Allium Quattro

Named for it's four attributes.
Firstly Quattro is a beautiful flowering hardy perennial with evergreen foliage.
Secondly, the long flat leaves taste like garlic and are wonderful for use in cookery, chopped and sprinkled over pasta or in olive oil to drizzle on salad, or tear up a few flower heads in a soup bowl, in fact the whole plant is edible, the leaf, the flowers and even the corms!
Thirdly it also has medicinal qualities improving cardiovascular health and helping to reduce cholesterol levels.
And finally the flowers, produced in August and September are wonderful for cutting, lasting up to three weeks in a vase. Happy in containers and borders, preferring well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Height 80cm (32”). Spread 30cm (12”). Hardy perennial.

Additional Information

Attractive to bees and butterflies. Rabbit and deer resistant. These add impact to an early summer border or can be dried for winter decoration. Leave the foliage to die back naturally so this enables them to build up energy for the next year. No need to lift your bulbs during the winter, they are fully hardy. Instead, mulch the base of your plant with mushroom compost.

Plant Hardiness

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.

"Thank you ladies for your beautiful plants.
Praise also, for the Bulrush Compost, of which I have purchased 8 bags during the past six months. It is superb and my garden has flourished.
Bless you,
Kind wishes"
