Alstroemeria Flirt

Every body loves Alstroemeria as they give copious exotic looking blossoms from June to November that last for up to 14 days in a vase! The varieties have been specially selected as thay are difficult to find and if you do manage to find then they are often quite expensive. Great for cutting and happy in borders and containers. Dead head by pulling the flowers stems gently from the bottom of the plant, the resulting ‘wound’ then initiates new flowers. Prefers well-drained soil in a partly shaded sheltered site. Height and spread 60-90cm (24- 36”).

Additional Information

Great for borders and containers. Needs good drainage. The soil temperature needs to be warm, so if the garden is frosted or cold then plant on in pots and place in a warm, sheltered spot, with plenty of light until the new growth has started. Plant at a depth of 3cm. Mulch for the first 2 years. Leave for a while to form clumps. In frost prone areas maintain a dry mulch in winter. If the plant gets too hot in the summer they will stop flowering and put their effort to producing more tuberous roots. Propagate established clumps by division in early spring or autumn. Bare Roots Addition info: Plants may lose the thick tuberous roots on transit however these are not necessary for the plant to grow. Hardy perennial. Bare roots take up to 12-16 weeks to appear after planting.

"Thank you ladies for your beautiful plants.
Praise also, for the Bulrush Compost, of which I have purchased 8 bags during the past six months. It is superb and my garden has flourished.
Bless you,
Kind wishes"
