Cirsium rivulare Atropurpureum

Rivulare means ‘growing by a stream’, though this highly sought after Cirsium will tolerate drier conditions.  Blooms almost all year round.  During winter cold it has a rest then starts afresh in the spring.  Crimson thistles, resembling miniature doorknobs, are held high over a rosette of spiny foliage.  A real bee magnet.  Prefers sun in moist soil.  Height 100cm (40”).  Spread 60cm (24”).  Hardy perennial.  Delivery May onwards.
