Clematis heracleifolia


An unusual shrubby, non-climbing clematis bearing clusters of scented flowers in late summer and autumn.
As each flower matures, the violet-blue petals recurve, creating stunning shapes above leafly mound below. happy in containers and borders. Attractive to butterflies and bees, great as cut or dried flowers. prefer moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade.
Height 90 cm (36"). Spread 60 cm (24"). Fully hardy perennial supplied as young plants.

Additional Information

Easy to grow. This clematis is pruning group 2. These bloom on the new growth that is produced from old buds from the previous season. Remove dead and weak stems in February or March, leaving the best of last year's buds. Once they finish blooming, cut the plant back to 16'' to encourage new growth for later flowering. Propagate by division in the spring or semi-ripe cuttings in the summer. Hardy perennial.
