Anchusa azurea Loddon Royalist AGM
Bluer than the famous river it is named after in Berkshire, the tall dark stems form spires holding a profusion of large, gentian flowers during June and July. Attractive to bees. Prefers well drained soil in sun. Height 120cm (48”). Spread 45cm (18”). Hardy perennial.
Verbascum Gainsborough AGM
Also know as the 'Candlewick Plant' as the down from the grey green foliage was once used in lamps. Stately spires emerge in summer, with many outward facing pale primrose yellow buds which slowly unfurl to reveal their full beauty over many months in summer. Rosettes of foliage give such good anchorage they resist all but the strongest winds. Slug and rabbit resistant. Prefers poor, dry soil in sun or part shade. Height 150cm (60”). Spread 30cm (12”). Hardy perennial.
