Daphne Mezereum

Known as the February Daphne as its extra-large sought after blooms arrive en masse during this time. Daphne mezereum has a sweet, heady scent of vanilla and freesia. Its erect, upright stems become strewn with dark purple flowers which are later followed by interesting bright red berries. Its compact size sees it a great specimen for a mixed border in a small garden or in a pot. Its deciduous foliage means it can tolerate sunnier locations than others Daphnes.

Plant Hardiness

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
If in doubt please give us a call.

"Thank you ladies for your beautiful plants.
Praise also, for the Bulrush Compost, of which I have purchased 8 bags during the past six months. It is superb and my garden has flourished.
Bless you,
Kind wishes"
