Erysimum Apricot Twist

Closely related to the wallflower, this cottage garden perennial packs a punch from late winter as it bounces into action by producing beautiful dark burgundy buds from which many fragrant orange flowers glow until early summer. Trimming the spent flowers will encourage a second flush of blooms. Great as cut flowers. Slug resistant. Prefers well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Height 50cm (20"). Spread 35cm (14”). Hardy perennial.

Fragrant. Attractive to bees and butterflies.Trim plant after flowering to prevent becoming leggy. Erysimum are intolerant to long periods of winter wet and strong winds as this will cause wind-rock and neck-rot. Slug resistant. Propagate by nodal or softwood cuttings in spring or summer. Fully hardy perennial.

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
