Fritillaria meleagris & meleagris Alba (Snake's head Fritillary)

Also known as Lepers Lily because the shape resembles the bell that was carried by lapers. Once abundant in the UK, it is now rare in the wild except for a few notable sites, one of which is the Oxfordshire village of Ducklington, which holds a 'Fritillary Sunday' festival. Beautiful nodding bell-shaped blooms are held on long stems from March to May. Meleagris has been awarded an AGM. Height 30cm (12") Supplied as bulbs size 5+

Plant Hardiness

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
If in doubt please give us a call.

"Thank you ladies for your beautiful plants.
Praise also, for the Bulrush Compost, of which I have purchased 8 bags during the past six months. It is superb and my garden has flourished.
Bless you,
Kind wishes"
