What fun!! You too can grow your very own cotton! In Arabic the word Goz means ‘soft substance’ and this beautifully soft substance has been grown for as long as 5000 years. Today it is the most widely planted species of cotton in the United States and is responsible for 95% of all cotton production.
Creamy white flowers up to 8cm (3”) are produced in summer then followed by long fruits. Each one is filled with seeds that produce copious amounts of lint and fuzz. Height & spread 150cm (60”). Prefers well-drained soil in sun. Hardy in warmer winters, but seeds can easily be collected to raise new plants for the following year.
