Iris chrysographes Black Form

Stunning golden streaks adorn dramatic dark velvety blooms that appear in summer over clumps of sword-shaped foliage, hence the name chrysographes meaning 'veined in gold.'

Excellent as cut flowers for your home. attractive to bees. prefers moist soil in sun or part shade.

Additional Information

Drought tolerant. Once the flowering period has ceased, leave the foliage in place as the remaining leaves will gather sunlight to create a vital food source to strengthen these plants for the future. Foliage may be removed during their dormant period. Propagate by divison in autumn. All parts may cause severe discomfort if ingested, contact with the sap may irritate the skin. Fully hardy perennial.

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
