Meconopsis x sheldonii Lingholm

In summer, enormous nodding, poppy-like blooms are borne on strong upright stems over green, softly bristled rosette leaves.

The azure blue blooms shimmer in a pearlescent haze from late spring to early summer creating an unsurpassed display in dappled shade.

Meconopsis grow best in cool, moist, humus rich, neutral to slightly acidic, well-drained soil in semi-shade. height 75cm (30"). Spread 50cm (18"). Fully hardy perennial. Supplied in 9cm pots.

Open soil up enough to prevent stagnation and rot in winter. Shelter from cold, drying winds. Rabbit resistant. Mulch generously and water in dry summer spells. Propagate by division after flowering. Hardy perennial.

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
