Papaver Mixed Collection

New girls on the block, relatives of the well-loved Patty’s Plum. With large blousy double ruffled petals they are specifically bred not to flop like their older cousin. Flowering from late spring to mid summer. Rabbit, slug and deer resistant. Prefers well-drained soil in full sun. Height 75cm (30”). Spread 40cm (16”). Hardy perennial.

Rabbit, deer and slug resistant. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser when new foliage is yellowing. Generally, Papaver do not require supplemental fertilisation if compost is added at the time of planting. Deadhead plants as they begin to fade if you do not wish for your plants to set seed. Water Papaver when the soil becomes dry and throughout periods of drought. Propagate by division in spring, or take root cuttings from late autumn to early winter. Fully hardy

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
