Papaver Orientale Marlene

Large blousy blooms are produced in late spring and early summer on strong stems above hairy foliage that dies back after flowering. Perfect for giving a little extra space to your late summer flowering perennials. Fresh foliage appears again in autumn.
Not the longest vase life, however, one of the most beautiful and the seed heads can be dried. Rabbit, slug and deer resistant. Prefer moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Height 60-80cm (24-32"). Spread 45-60cm (18-24"). Fully hardy perennials. Supplied as bare root plants.

Rabbit, deer and slug resistant. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser when new foliage is yellowing. Generally, Papaver do not require supplemental fertilisation if compost is added at the time of planting. Deadhead plants as they begin to fade if you do not wish for your plants to set seed. Water Papaver when the soil becomes dry and throughout periods of drought. Propagate by division in spring, or take root cuttings from late autumn to early winter. Fully hardy

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
