Passiflora incarnata Incense


A mouth-watering fragrance will fill your garden when these large tropical-looking blooms appear in late spring. The lacy, royal purple flowers are a favourite with butterflies and bees throughout the summer and are followed in autumn by yellow, oval, tangy tasting fruit. Using tendrils, this stunning passion vine will quickly cover a wall or shed, and is evergreen in frost free areas. One of the hardiest passion vines, re-sprouting each spring. Prefers moist, well-drained soil in sun.

Pruning should be undertaken once the flowering period has finished. Apply a balanced fertiliser during early spring. Water your plants thoroughly throughout active growth, especially during periods of drought, decreasing the volume of water needed during the winter. Requires winter protection in colder areas.Half Hardy perennial.

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
