Pittosporum tobira

Colour changing, sweetly scented blooms. Some plants really do have it all.

Fragrant, blooms open yellow then fade to creamy-white over a dome of glossy, dark-green, evergreen foliage from late spring to late summer. Fresh light-green foliage creates intriguing patterns in the spring. Prefers well-drained soil in sun or part shade, happy in coastal areas. Height & spread 1.5m (5’), but need not be a brute, as is easily pruned to desired size. Hardy perennial. Supplied in 9cm pots.

Additional Information

Pittosporum are incredibly tolerant to many planting conditions and are incredibly low maintenance, making them a highly popular plant for those with limited time. The only request is that the soil has adequate drainage and is not over-watered and left continuously moist. Water sparingly unless in conditions of drought. You may wish to prune Pittosporum to maintain a healthy and desirable shape and size. To encourage an abundance of scented blooms for the following season, prune right after the flowering period.

Plant Hardiness

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
If in doubt please give us a call.

"Thank you ladies for your beautiful plants.
Praise also, for the Bulrush Compost, of which I have purchased 8 bags during the past six months. It is superb and my garden has flourished.
Bless you,
Kind wishes"
