Highly scented white flowers in winter, followed by black fruits. During late winter, it is recommended that you lightly trim or prune back any shoots to tidy your shrub, maintaining a healthy shape and structure. Once you have pruned Sarcococca, you may wish to apply a generous layer of mulch consisting of well rotted compost - this should be applied around the base of the plant, taking care not to touch the stem. Evergreen foliage. Propagate by semi ripe cuttings in summer or by seed in autumn. Hardy perennial. Sarcococca Winter Gem is protected by Plant Breeder's Rights and propagation is prohibited.

Plant Hardiness

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
If in doubt please give us a call.

"Thank you ladies for your beautiful plants.
Praise also, for the Bulrush Compost, of which I have purchased 8 bags during the past six months. It is superb and my garden has flourished.
Bless you,
Kind wishes"
