Sedum Thunderhead


Stretch summer into autumn and avoid those ‘gappy’ autumnal borders by providing masses of colour well into the winter months. Large clusters of vibrant flowers, very rich in nectar are held high on strong stems which remain upright. Firm favourites amongst bees and butterflies. Prefer well-drained soil in sun or part shade.

Additional Information

Attractive to bees and butterflies. Flowerheads can be left on during winter adding texture to your border. In February and March cut back and apply a generous mulch around the base of the plant. Propagate by division or by softwood cuttings from spring to mid summer. All parts may cause mild stomach upset if ingested, contact with sap may irritate existing skin allergies. Fully hardy perennial.

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
