Tulipa were originally a hobby for the extremely rich, they became the ultimate symbol of prosperity and wealth. In the 17th century ‘Tulipomania’ took hold of Holland and a single bulb would sometimes be sold for the price one would pay for a house! Centuries later the tulip is still well loved and there are so many different forms. Although all are perfect for borders and containers and make excellent cut flowers. Additional Information

Plant in well drained soil, so if you have clay, add a bed of grit. Plant pointed end up around 8" deep and 4" apart. This makes the tulip tougher with strong stalks. Leave foliage on after flowering until it becomes brown, it can then be cleared. If you are 'lasagne planting', largest bulbs at the bottom, if they all the same size they can be planted in any order.Hardy bulbous perennial,

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
