The common name Columbine comes from the Latin for Dove, ‘Columba’. Dove’s have long signified peace and love. These newer varieties still bring peace and tranquillity with their pale white-green and red flower heads nodding in the breeze above layered petticoats of lacy grey green foliage throughout spring and summer. Despite their delicate appearance they are tough little chaps and very easy to grow. Rabbit and slug resistant. Unfussy on soil conditions in sun or partial shade. Height 90cm (36”) spread 45cm (18”). Herbaceous perennial. Delivery March and November.
