Pretty pink purple flowers appear in April, the same time as the Cuckoo, then bloom until June. Once much used as a spring salad plant and sold in local markets, the flowers apparently make a pleasant nibble. Often found in shady stream margins, ditches and pastures where they form a carpet of blossoms. Great for marginal planting. Attractive to butterflies. Height 45cm (18”). Spread 30cm (12”). Prefers moist soil in part shade. Hardy perennial.
