Collection Acanthus spinosus & Eremurus Cleopatra

Eremurus
The name stems from the Greek for ‘desert tail’ referring to both the origins of the flower and to its shape. Hundreds of orange tiny star shaped flowers appear on each spike in early summer and gradually open from the bottom to the tip giving more than a hint of a fox’s brush. Winter cold is needed to induce flowering. Prefers well drained soil in full sun. Height 150cm (60”). Spread 60cm (24”). Hardy perennial. Supplied as bare root plants from March onwards.

Acanthus spinosus AGM
The Acanthus motif was used as a decoration of Greek columns centuries before Christ. Abundant glossy, jagged sometimes prickly leaves form large imposing clumps. The inflorescence of the flowers remains for a long time after the summer blooms have faded. Not fussy on soil conditions in partial shade. Height 150cm (60”). Spread 60-90cm (24-36”). Hardy perennial.
