In the 19th century, English plant breeders crossed two species of South African crinum lilies to create the hybrid Crinum x powellii, or Cape lily. A mound of evergreen arching strap liked foliage waves in the breeze, from which white, fragrant funnel shaped flowers up to 4” long rise high on leafless stalks from late summer to autumn. Great for cutting. Prefers sun in well drained soil. Height 75cm (30”). Spread 45cm (18”). Bulbous perennial.
