Cypripedium flavum

A famous and rare alpine slipper orchid.
It takes two to three years to raise a plant in a 5cm pot and possibly another two years to fully appreciate the incredible flowers. The beauty will more than justify the time spent in anticipation as the spotted creamy yellow flowers up to 9cm long, are held high on upright stems druing April - May.
Suitable for a shady rock or woodland garden. Can be divided once established. Prefers damp soil in part shade. Height 45cm (18"). Hardy perennial down to around -15oC.
