From the Greek ‘Daktylos’, meaning finger and ‘rhiza’, meaning root referring to the thick finger-like roots, but this does not mean that they are invasive! Due to indiscriminate collection these indigenous orchids are under threat of extinction in the wild. Our plants are grown in a laboratory.
Large, feathery purple plumes appear in mid spring and flower until July over bright green pointed spotted foliage. Extremely easy to grow, we recommend that Dactylorhiza are kept in large pots for at least one year. Prefers moist conditions in partial shade. Height 60cm (24”). Spread 15cm (6”). Hardy perennial. Delivery May onwards.
