Dahlias have an undeserved reputation for being hard to overwinter but they are extremely easy. These modern varieties can be left in the ground as long as your soil is well-drained. Alternatively grow in large pots which can be displayed on the patio or buried into the border, then after the first frosts put the pots into a shed or garage until the following spring.
