We launched the worlds first Hardy Gerbera at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in 2008. There were many uttering's of disbelief that such a beautiful plant could survive the winter outdoors. Luckily we have a snapshot of a flower in the snow which soon caused gasps of delight from the disbelievers!
As with all new plants the breeders try to improve and brand new for 2010 are much larger flowered varieties in stronger colours. Flowers up to 3" across adorn the foliage from May to November and the cut flowers last for up to 14 days in a vase. The judges at the 2009 Horti Fair in Amsterdam awarded these Gerbera the Innovation Award for the best new product introduced into the market. They are easy to grow in any well drained soil and will survive winters down to –5°C. Height and Spread 30-45cm (12-18").
