The youngsters of the penstemon world, five varieties were introduced in 2007 and Vanilla Plum, Sweet Cherry and Raspberry Ripple are seen here for the first time in 2008 . These plants have been specifically bred to produce much larger flowers than usual. We are still trying to find out if the breeder named them Ice Cream as they look good enough to eat or because the flowers resemble miniature ice cream cones. Great for containers too due to remaining compact and growing to a height and spread of 45-60cm (18-24”).
