Overwatering young plants can be detrimental. Let the compost dry out before re-watering and give plenty of ventilation. Once established, dead-head regularly to encourage further flowering. Slug and rabbit resistant. Cut back in late spring, not autumn, to 25cm to encourage basal growth. For autumn deliveries please pot on 4 weeks and if the weather is good then you can pop then in the garden, with an extra mulch. If cold then please pop in a sheltered spot for overwintering in pots for the winter. Propagate by taking cuttings from non flowering shoots in summer.***Please note that for Penstemon Dark Towers that unlicensed propagation is prohibited. ******* Hardy perennial.

Ask a QuestionPlant Hardiness

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
If in doubt please give us a call.
