Helleborus (Hellebore) niger praecox (The Christmas Rose)

Arguably the most popular of all Hellebores or at least the most famous, praecox is nicknamed the Christmas Rose as it’s the first heavenly hellebore to flower and can even be seen blossoming on Christmas day.

Gorgeous glistening cup-shaped blooms emerge in December and will last into April.

Happy in full sun or shade niger will lift even the gloomiest spot in the garden.

Plant Hardiness

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
If in doubt please give us a call.

"Thank you ladies for your beautiful plants.
Praise also, for the Bulrush Compost, of which I have purchased 8 bags during the past six months. It is superb and my garden has flourished.
Bless you,
Kind wishes"
