Uvularia grandiflora

Also known as ‘Merrybells’, with petals that twist and turn like a gypsy skirt to cheer up any shady border. Numerous deep yellow flowers hang from arching stems from April to mid summer. First introduced into Britain in the 1900’s it has become a deer’s delicacy as new shoots appear like asparagus spears to form fresh crisp clumps. Attractive to bees. Prefers moist well drained soil in full or part shade. Height 75cm (30”). Spread 30cm (12”). Hardy perennial.
