Large, double, daisy-like blooms smother compact rosettes of foliage in late spring and summer, much to the delight of local butterflies. Also excellent as cut blooms. Happy in sun or part shade and untroubled by pests including deer, they thrive in almost any soil. Height 25cm (10"). Spread 40cm (16"). Fully hardy perennials.

Good for borders and pots. Mulch all asters annually after cutting back in late autumn. To maintain vigour, divide every 3 years. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more blooms. Propagate by soft wood cutting in spring, or by divison in spring. Fully hardy perennials.

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
