Tulbaghia Silver Lace

Looking rather like Agapanthus, loose umbels of glistening flowers are set off beautifully by the fine, glaucous grey green foliage from March until the Autumn.

We have been told that the foliage can be used in cookery, much like chives, but we haven’t tried it ourselves!! Loved by bees and butterflies. Prefers well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Height 30-45 cm (12-18”). Spread 30 cm (12”).
Hardy perennials. Supplied in 9 cm pots from April onwards.

Additional Information

Remove any spent flower stems at the base, just as they finish, to encourage flowers until November. In colder regions, plants may need protection from frost, alternatively grow in containers which you can move indoors during autumn. If Tulbaghia are planted out in the garden, cut them down so that they are approximately 5cm (2") above ground level during mid-November and apply a generous layer of mulchSplit and divide large clumps in spring. Grow under Roses for use as a pest repellent. Tuberous perennial.

Plant Hardiness

How hardy are our plants?

All our plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

Fully hardy perennials will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
Hardy perennials are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F)
Half hardy perennials can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F)
And Tender perennials may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
If in doubt please give us a call.

"Thank you ladies for your beautiful plants.
Praise also, for the Bulrush Compost, of which I have purchased 8 bags during the past six months. It is superb and my garden has flourished.
Bless you,
Kind wishes"
